Fitness Friday: Keep Climbing
Happy Fitness Friday y'all! This is my first fitness post since the Holidays and as much as I love Christmas and all of the down time I am so happy to be back in the swing of things. I was able to stay on track with my nutrition and fitness during the holidays by being very specific. I started a food journal Dec 1st and I weighed everyday during the month on Dec. So I ended up only gaining 2 lbs during the whole Holidays! That is a huge win for me! In the past It could have been more like 10lbs! The tittle of this blog is Keep Climbing. Here is why..The holidays are a time to spend with your family and the people you love the most. For me and my family it was a hard Christmas. My brother is in prison in Alabama, he has a beautiful baby boy who will be turning 4 in May. While I think about my brother everyday and talk to him on the phone at least 4 times a week during the holidays it is the hardest time to talk to him but I have to talk to him. To hear the pain, loneliness, regret, depression, I mean just all of these overwhelming feelings in his voice on Christmas day as he sits in prison and then soon after on his birthday again all alone it is just heartbreaking to say the least. Then what do I say to my brother when he is in such a low place.I say keep climbing.I say you are at the very bottom of a deep dark hole. You must lift your head, see the light , and keep climbing. I plan on doing a blog post that goes more in detail about my brother. I am always surprised at how many people have loved ones that are incarcerated. If I feel to tired and uninspired to workout one thing I do is I dedicate my workout to someone I love. Many days during the holiday I said to myself "Okay Jana if you don't want to go excercise for yourself today then do it for Jerry" So during the entire workout I will send love and light to Jerry, my big brother. I recommend this mindset. When I was running a marathon a few years ago I thought I could not take another step and then I thought about my sister and said to myself this is for Joyce & I finished the marathon without stopping one time. Its astonishing what we can do we are doing it for someone we love.I hope you have a healthy, happy, inspired weekend.Jana
